Florence May Piggin 1889 is a reproduction of an original red thread sampler in our collection from Braintree, Essex in the South East of England. We also have Florence's mother's sampler in our collection which we hope to reproduce soon, so stay tuned for updates on that from Instagram and FlossTube!
The pattern for Florence's sampler is 224 x 76 stitches and our model is stitched using 1 strand of floss over 2 linen threads on 36ct 'Liberty Gathering Grey' from R & R Reproductions. We have used Au Ver à Soie, Soie d'Alger silk for our model stitch but we include a DMC conversion in our PDF downloads. The design area on 36ct fabric measures approximately 12 1/2" x 4 1/4" (31.8 x 10.8cm).
There are no speciality stitches so this pattern is suitable for stitching on either linen or Aida.
Our PDF downloads include both a symbol only and colour version of the chart along with a sizing guide for a variety of fabric counts. Upon purchase you will have access to both A4 (UK) and letter (US) formats to account for local printing standards.
