For our 2022 contribution, I have adapted the colour scheme of Rachel's sampler, a tiny antique from the Whilst Iris Naps Designs collection. Rachel didn’t stitch a year, however, we did discover a charming note written on the backing board of the frame. The note may, just may, lead to being able to identify our stitcher in the future. Sadly, all lines of enquiry thus far have led to dead ends!
The stitch count for the design area is 79 x 110 and on 36ct fabric is 4 3/8 inches by 6 1/8 inches (11.1cm x 15.6cm). The model is stitched on 36ct ‘raw’ linen from Zweigart using WDW threads (a DMC conversion is provided within the chart). There are no speciality stitches, so it is suitable to be stitched on linen or Aida.
I have finished Rachel’s sampler using a basic hem stitch - although I happen to think she would look rather lovely wrapped around a spool! I have not included a tutorial for hem stitch within the chart (I don’t feel qualified to do so - this is only the second time that I have finished a sampler in this way!). There are several very good tutorials on YouTube for Hem Stitch if you were interested in finding out how it is done though.
